sparks

Sparks of Light are the currency with which your characters buy items they need or upgrades to their carriages. They're also used to track the overall progress of the game and reach plot milestones. Because of this, you must keep active track of how many sparks your character has earned and spent. A template spreadsheet can be found here -- make a copy and keep it updated at least every couple of weeks!

Sparks Earning Guide

Initiate a Bond - 200 sparks for a one-on-one Bond, plus 100 more per 5 people who participate. If 5 people respond to your Bond it's worth 300 sparks, if 10 people respond it's worth 400, etc.
Participate in a teammate's Bond - 200 sparks
Participate in another team's Bond - 100 sparks
Participate in an Event post - 300 sparks
Your team wins a Trial - 500 sparks (800 for a bonus win)
Your team loses a Trial - 200 sparks
Your character runs a Trial - 800 sparks

Sparks Shop
Below is a list of the most common things your character might want to buy. Items marked with a ★ require mod approval. Characters can always pool sparks if needed -- just let us know who's contributing what in your form. If you're not sure how much something would cost, or you want to apply for a mod-approved purchase, please use the following form. You don't need to ask approval for anything that already has a listed price and isn't specifically marked. Once we've got some new requests, we'll make a spreadsheet to keep track!

team carriage upgrade - 2000 sparks
healing pod - injury - 500 sparks
healing pod - life-threatening injury - 750 sparks
healing pod - revival - 1000 sparks
power share - 1000 sparks
simple magical item (such as a personal powercap or shield) - 200 sparks
complex magical item (such as a carriage-wide powercap or shield) - 400 sparks
non-magical weapon - 200 sparks
magical weapon - 400 sparks
ammo for ranged weapons (a clip or equivalent) - 50 sparks
a new accessory - 100 sparks
a new outfit - 200 sparks
single-serve packaged drink or snack - 10 sparks
full size packaged drink or snack - 30 sparks
single-serve alcohol or recreational drugs - 50 sparks
full size bottle/bag of alcohol or recreational drugs - 100 sparks
ingredients for a meal for 1 / 2 / 7 people - 20 / 30 / 50 sparks
fully cooked meal (low quality) for 1 / 2 / 7 people - 40 / 60 / 100 sparks
fully cooked meal (high quality) for 1 / 2 / 7 people - 60 / 90 / 150 sparks
bottle of OTC medication - 50 sparks
luxury toiletries kit - 200 sparks
a pet (small household pets only) - 500 sparks
a week's worth of pet care supplies 100 sparks

Notes: Any "magical item" that can affect others' play must be limited in scope. For example, you can buy a wearable item that suppresses your own magical traits, but an item intended to suppress someone else's powers must either have a short time limit (such as 10 minutes with a two hour cooldown) or need frequent replacement (works for a full day then needs to be re-purchased). This applies to magical shields, love potions, or anything else that can be used on/against other players. The exact limits are player choice, but please include them in your request.

You may buy specific items from your character's canon, but the price is doubled. For example "a sword" is 200 sparks, but "my family's heirloom sword" is 400. This does not apply to simple supplies such as food/shampoo brands, only to specific individual items with sentimental value.

You may collect from each type of bond once per thread! You may only get the initiating/teammate bonus once per thread. You may only count a bond one time regardless of the number of threads it spawned. If you got multiple threads on one bond, see the participation bonus instead.

All bonds have an initiator. You only get 200 sparks if you're the character starting the bond, or you're replying to a teammate's bond. You also only get sparks if your character purposefully had earning them/participating in the system in mind when the action was taken.

Trials are paid out per team. In other words, if your team attended a trial you get the win/loss prize whether your character personally attended or not. However, you only get sparks for a bond you personally tagged into.

Please use the !bonds tag on the IC comm when making a public bond post. Please put [bond] in the comment subject line when initiating a bond in a thread. Only marked bonds will be counted for collective sparks!

[personal profile] bad_crowmance 2019-02-27 05:26 am (UTC)(link)
Character: Crow (not linking spreadsheet because this is just a question)
Item: Weapon (?)
Details: DO ORBAL GUNS COUNT AS MAGICAL WEAPONS? I mainly ask since altho they're guns, they don't use ammo because... orbal guns...

Since Crow uses two of them I imagine he'd have to pay the x2 price unlike video game mechanics where you can fuckin buy two for the price of one.

This is a low priority question, he doesn't remember he can use them yet so it'll take a bit.

Character: Zol
Item: hand tools
Details: Zol's a carpenter and would want to grab himself some low-tech tools-- stuff like carving knives, sandpaper, saws, hand axes, hammer and nails, etc. etc. and I wanted to get an idea of what those sort of things would cost, and if specialized equipment (specific shaping tools, a man-powered foot pedal lathe, etc.) would be more costly! (Plus if saws/hammers/hand axes would cost more bc they can technically be used as weapons, lol.)

Character: boom de yada the character is EVERYONE
Item: KITCHEN. A GREAT ASS KITCHEN. FOR JASMINE
Details: gas ranges, a separate oven, granite counter tops, dishwasher, with one island featuring a sink and breakfast bar combination with another sink elsewhere, excellent lighting, large fridge and separate freezer, hanging pot rack, a pantry. wine dispenser!!! good china, and cutlery. Carbon steel blades. she would icly want to task for this shit because she doesn't trust this shit.

Oh, also and this might incur an extra cost but it would be great if the kitchen could be magical in that it will automatically shrink/compress or adjust itself in ways to accommodate Coral so she doesn't have to like, go on step stools to do basic shit all the fucking time.

To this end 80H, Cael, Coral (Ai), Randy, Finn (Peter) will split the cost evenly.
