sparks
Sparks of Light are the currency with which your characters buy items they need or upgrades to their carriages. They're also used to track the overall progress of the game and reach plot milestones. Because of this, you must keep active track of how many sparks your character has earned and spent. A template spreadsheet can be found here -- make a copy and keep it updated at least every couple of weeks!
Sparks Earning Guide
Initiate a Bond - 200 sparks for a one-on-one Bond, plus 100 more per 5 people who participate. If 5 people respond to your Bond it's worth 300 sparks, if 10 people respond it's worth 400, etc.

Below is a list of the most common things your character might want to buy. Items marked with a ★ require mod approval. Characters can always pool sparks if needed -- just let us know who's contributing what in your form. If you're not sure how much something would cost, or you want to apply for a mod-approved purchase, please use the following form. You don't need to ask approval for anything that already has a listed price and isn't specifically marked. Once we've got some new requests, we'll make a spreadsheet to keep track!

Notes: Any "magical item" that can affect others' play must be limited in scope. For example, you can buy a wearable item that suppresses your own magical traits, but an item intended to suppress someone else's powers must either have a short time limit (such as 10 minutes with a two hour cooldown) or need frequent replacement (works for a full day then needs to be re-purchased). This applies to magical shields, love potions, or anything else that can be used on/against other players. The exact limits are player choice, but please include them in your request.healing pod - injury - 500 sparks

You may buy specific items from your character's canon, but the price is doubled. For example "a sword" is 200 sparks, but "my family's heirloom sword" is 400. This does not apply to simple supplies such as food/shampoo brands, only to specific individual items with sentimental value.
You may collect from each type of bond once per thread! You may only get the initiating/teammate bonus once per thread. You may only count a bond one time regardless of the number of threads it spawned. If you got multiple threads on one bond, see the participation bonus instead.
All bonds have an initiator. You only get 200 sparks if you're the character starting the bond, or you're replying to a teammate's bond. You also only get sparks if your character purposefully had earning them/participating in the system in mind when the action was taken.
Trials are paid out per team. In other words, if your team attended a trial you get the win/loss prize whether your character personally attended or not. However, you only get sparks for a bond you personally tagged into.
Please use the !bonds tag on the IC comm when making a public bond post. Please put [bond] in the comment subject line when initiating a bond in a thread. Only marked bonds will be counted for collective sparks!
