We chatted about this and decided that either option you listed is okay, by player choice! So in short, with a crau character from a memloss game you can:
> totally reset as a fresh memory loss, but regain previous game memories as well as canon ones > regain all canon memories and continue as power or no loss > keep memories your character had at their canon point in the previous game, and come in as power or no loss, permanently forfeiting the other memories > keep memories your character had at their canon point in the previous game, and continue to regain from there as memory loss
